Predrag Pale received his B.Sc., M.Sc. and PhD degrees in electrical engineering, electronics and computer science from University of Zagreb, Faculty of Electrical Engineering.
He initiated and led the deployment of Croatian Internet from 1991 to 2003 and was the principal designer of Croatian Internet in early nineties and the National Broadband Backbone covering 12 cities, based on 155 and 622 Mbps ATM over the fiber optics in 1995.
From 1993 to 2000 he served as a Deputy Minister of Science and Technology.
Predrag Pale has been awarded the National medal for science in 1995 and State science award in 1997 as well as IEEE Education Society “Distinguished Chapter Leadership Award” in 2018.
Predrag Pale fought first cybersecurity attack in 1994, established national CERT in 1995, coauthored Croatian national Cybersecurity Strategy in 2016 and Macedonian Cybercrime Strategy in 2017.
In 2010 he established the Center for information Security (www.CIS.hr) which raises awareness and educates general and professional public in information security, organizes monthly public lectures which are streamed on Internet and published on YouTube.
He is frequently invited speaker at international events about the future of cyber world and on issues of privacy and security of information systems, at NATO and RACVIAC workshops and delivered the keynote speech at the NATO “Open Road 99” conference on the topic of Information Warfare.
He designed “Computer Forensics” and “Forensics of Digital Documents” courses and teaches them at the University of Zagreb both in Croatian and English. All materials and lecture captures being publicly available (/www.fer.unizg.hr/en/course/comfor).
He designs and delivers courses and workshops on cybercrime and cyber forensics for police and justice employees.
He is a coauthor of the patent “System and Protocol for Distributed User Authentication” which eliminates the risk of stealing online identity by compromising a single server and enables adjustable authentication strength
